MARK BIRCH – SKI INSTRUCTOR
Mark provides outstanding lessons in the resorts of Courchevel, La Tania and Meribel. Focussed on delivering the very best ski lessons to the independently minded holidaymaker.
Mark Birch has lived and worked in the Alps for 20 winter seasons. He’s pledged to streamline his transport methods, re-purpose his ethically sourced and produced uniform, and use chemical free ski wax products.
Throughout last winter I made a conscious effort to reduce my car journeys to and from work. I I use the existing resort infrastructure to further reduce my personal car usage, lift share with my neighbours and making better use of the new and improved lift systems. While I sometime have to use my car, I always make sure that it’s as well maintained as it can be. Put simply, ensuring that my tires are correctly inflated, removing unnecessary “stuff” from the inside of my car and clearing the snow from the roof before my journey ensure I can travel more efficiently.
It’s ever more important to me to help to raise awareness, particularly how small changes to people’s day to day lives can reduce their personal environmental impact. We rely on these mountains to make a living, we bring up our children here, we must take responsibility for the care and upkeep of our mountain playground. I pledge to do the same, but aim to get better and better at doing it year after year.
Mark Birch has pledged to fulfil certain climate obligations. The coloured badges show the tasks he has completed, the grey badges symbolise their next steps. To find out more, head over to his website.
