Not only providing high quality gear to holiday makers and seasonnaires alike, The Boot Lab have started multiple community ‘Fix It’ events to raise awareness for climate change, the need for sustainable business practices and tree planting programmes.

The Boot Lab were the first organisation to take the One Tree at a Time pledge and are working towards changing multiple aspects of their business to reduce their impact even further. You can find out more about their pledge here

Small business, big change

Hyperactive ideas samurai Gavin, owner of The Boot Lab, knew that even as a small business owner he could effect change within the ski industry. What started as trying to go single use plastic free, led to pushing suppliers to remove needless plastic packaging from their products, and in turn to making similar small adjustments across the business to reduce his shops’ environmental impact.

Next saw the first ‘Fix It’ events in Courchevel, Meribel and Morzine, galvanising communities into taking action against climate change in their own small ways. The events saw 125kg of clothing repaired, raised money to plant over 50,000 trees and saved 700kg of clothing from landfill.

The result of all of this? The creation of One Tree at a Time, and pledges from a whole host of other companies to make similar commitments in their sustainable endeavours.
