Tell us about your week in the jacket
Sunrise hiking, escape, apres-ing, in style…
What activities did you do this week?
During the week I did a sunrise hike to the summit of Vizelle (2660m) from the Courchevel Altiport. We were certainly humbled by the chosen route, with the final stretch of walking up the Marmottes red run, a little steep in snow shoes.
I also did an Escape day out with Chris and Maya before Maya left the Three Valleys. We really put in some mileage, mostly completing the map. The route included some off piste short cuts, including one down from the top of Point de la Masse.
I also got in some apres time for good measure.
What do you think of the project?
I think the project is a great idea to get people talking about fast fashion within the ski industry. I saw the QR card on the arm of the jacket when someone else was wearing it and it made me ask about what it was about.
Passing the jacket on certainly gets more people talking about it.
Has it made you think differently about clothing?
Yes certainly, we should all take more pride in buying second hand clothing.
I enjoyed wearing the jacket for the week. Firstly as the medium fit made me look pretty trim, a welcome change to my usual XL oversize jacket.
But also, I had been debating buying a new ski jacket and salopettes during the season. My jacket was starting to look a bit worn after a season in Meribel and half a season in Courchevel.
By chance I was offered the use of this jacket. It changed the way I thought about the need for a new jacket and made me reconsider extending the life of my existing kit.
